Trunk or Treat

The Park and Rec Board sponsors an annual Trunk or Treat event at the Glidden City Park. This event is typically scheduled for the last Sunday in October and is open to the community with trick-or-treaters in 6th grade or younger. Hot dogs and water are also provided. We are always looking for more “trunks”. Please contact the City Office at 659-3010 with questions or to volunteer to participate by decorating a vehicle trunk and providing candy.

Senior Meals

Senior Meals is a program that partners the City of Glidden with the Glidden-Ralston school district. The meals are prepared by the school and delivered by volunteers to seniors (60+) within the city limits. The cost is $3.75 per meal (adult rate) or you may qualify for free meals. We encourage seniors, individuals with disabilities and/or additional family members living in the home to take advantage of this program to ensure a nutritious, balanced meal. Please contact the City office at 659-3010 with questions or to sign up.

The City is looking for volunteer drivers to deliver the Senior Meals. The driver would pick up meals at the school lunchroom around 10:45am and deliver to around 10 people in the community. Delivery time takes approximately 30 minutes to complete all the deliveries. Drivers are provided a list of names, addresses, and drop off instructions. The meals are only provided when school is in session. To volunteer for deliveries please contact the City office at 659-3010.

City Boards

Join one of the City of Glidden’s boards composed of volunteers that are appointed by the Mayor/City Council. The city boards include: Board of Adjustments, Library Board of Trustees, Planning and Zoning Board, and Park and Rec Board. These boards provide valuable insight (the citizen’s point of view) to the operations of the city and city council’s decision-making process. Most boards require Glidden residency and voter registration.

Minimum age: 18

Contact the City Clerk at 712-659-3010 for more information.
